Above is a sweet new design from http://www.ecapcity.com/. The Padres minor league affiliate Rancho Cucomonga Quakes have always had a popular lid, but they've taken it to another level with the actual fault line across the bill. Pretty sweet for us hat dorks (FYI, the other cap is of Phillies' minor leauge affiliate Clearwater Threshers).

And for even more Padres-related stuff, this one will come as a trip. Throwback Padres jerseys have made waves ever since Jay-Z donned the '84 home Alan Wiggins jersey in the "Girls, Girls, Girls" video, but this one takes the cake. Who would ever have thought that the "Camo/Miltary Salute" jersey would ever be manufactured as a classic? Well, the fine folks at Mitchell and Ness have done it. Behold:

The Ivy League goes hip-hop. Watch out!

For those of you who have not discovered the world of Stall & Dean Sporting Goods Co., their website is well worth checking out. Founded in the late 1800's, S&D now specializes in caps and apparel of Ivy League schools and old school New York Rucker Park club basketball teams. They also have a celebrity photo section, with Jay-Z, Kanye and others sporting S&D. But one of the coolest thing on there is a Rucker League "Cougars" hat, which is pretty much the closest thing out there as far as official "Playmakers" gear goes. If you haven't checked the show out, I highly recommend you watch it on DVD:

Meanwhile, www.BothTeamsPlayedHard.com offers links to their ebay auctions for game used vintage jerseys, some of which date back to the 1920's. They have some great pictures on their site of classic uniforms such as the 1970's baby blue Sacramento Kings and Harlem Globetrotters warm-up jacket. It's a mostly hoops site, but there are items for every sport, hockey included.

Bells, Sweet Lou Hudson and the Pistol, a classic trio.

Found a great site call Pro-Jerseys.com, with the pretty much the largest selection of vintage NBA shorts you will find in one spot. The NBA is mainly featured on this site (where else can you find a Pooh Richardson or Malik Sealy throwback?), but also offers an interesting selection of Yankees, Mariners, Red Sox and Mets jerseys, although they are all of current players.

I'm guessing Shaq did not approve of these.

Mitchell & Ness is also doing a great job of bringing back the Atlanta Hawks look of the 70's. Known for putting players' nicknames on the back of the jerseys (M & N previously made the Pete Maravich "Pistol" jersey available), Walt "Bells" Bellamy can be found for sale in the Hardwood Classics section of NBA.com. Hawks of the 70's wool caps and track jackets are on the Mitchell & Ness website as well.

And lastly, the Braves (in)famous mascot, Chief Noc-A-Homa is back, via Fitted Hawaii. Angels, A's and Padres retro designs from them can also be seen here.
